In this high-impact role, you will serve as a subject matter expert, translating the university's strategic goals into tangible campus facilities. Your primary duties will include:
Strategic Planning: Leading long-range campus development efforts, strategic initiatives implementation, and architectural studies.
Design Solutions: Providing expertise on architectural, interior, and engineering issues aligned with the Physical Master Plan.
Architectural Planning: Leading feasibility studies of building and site designs for various types of facilities, including infrastructure, sustainability, and accessibility aspects.
Space Planning and Management: Optimizing built environments through rigorous data analysis, programmatic development, and strategic space planning to inform and support high-level decision-making.
Collaborative Leadership: Coordinating with campus leadership, outside designers, and diverse stakeholders to ensure the highest and best use of space and resources.

Strong working knowledge of architecture and/or engineering principles.
In-depth knowledge of university planning efforts, including master planning, architectural and interior design, space programming. space planning and project development.
Proven experience in developing planning and design strategies for varied building types.
Influence design solutions from programmatic requirements.
Familiarity with building codes and standards in government or university environments.
Proficient knowledge of standard design and construction practices.
Manage multiple projects and prioritize projects.
Use goals to guide actions and create detailed action plans.
Experience with capital project budgeting and cost estimation.
Ability to evaluate, develop, and manage processes, procedures, and guidelines related to campus planning and development.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to connect and interact with a variety of stakeholders and campus leadership.
Facilitate a proactive, collaborative, and transparent process for planning and developing the campus
Ability to proficiently operate a personal computer and a variety of software for email, word processing, spreadsheets, database & information collection.
Valid driver’s license required.
Valid NC driver’s license required within 60 days of hire.
The Campus Planner provides subject matter expertise in planning and design for long-range campus development projects, strategic initiatives, and space analysis and management. Working collaboratively with other Facilities Division units, various stakeholders across campus, and university leadership, this position contributes and presents scenarios, options, and design solutions for a broad range of architectural, interior, and engineering planning issues essential to meet the university’s physical development needs. Effective communication, analytical, and leadership skills are necessary to derive determinations and reach consensus on the highest and best use of campus facilities .
