KieranTimberlake is seeking a Communications Specialist to join our team.
Working closely with the Visual Communications Manager, Business Development Manager, and firm leadership, the Communications Specialist will be responsible for assembling RFQ and RFP responses, client interview presentations, award submissions, web and social media updates, and other marketing collateral. The position also will assist with content strategy and promotional activities for the firm.
The Communications Specialist will be a key liaison between internal project teams and the firm’s collaborators, supporting business development efforts and communications production. This role requires strong organizational skills, content development expertise, and experience coordinating multiple projects while maintaining high-quality results.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Development Support
Organize, route, and balance internal assignments to meet concurrent deadlines
Liaise with project teams to maintain accurate and up-to-date information for proposals
Compile graphic presentations for interviews and assist with logistics
Support preparation of RFQ and RFP submissions for new opportunities, including local and federal government standard forms (SF 330)
Write and edit project narratives and specific proposal responses
Organize and maintain project information databases, imagery, and proposal content resources
Print, bind, and ship proposals as needed
Support the go/no-go decision-making process by providing overviews of each opportunity
Develop and maintain contacts with architectural, engineering, and construction consultants
Communications & Marketing Support
Support the Visual Communications Manager with the production of marketing collateral, website content, social media posts, and public-facing presentations
Translate technical content into stories for industry and general audiences
Coordinate speaking engagements (20+ per year) and compile presentations when required
Work with team members and project teams to submit awards (approximately 30 per year)
Assist with planning and managing photography commissions
Respond to inbound media requests and academic inquiries
Develop and maintain media contacts
Support special projects such as exhibitions and in-office events as required
Organize supporting documents and information to ensure an efficient process and high-quality results
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate is a creative, flexible professional who enjoys working collaboratively to produce high-quality content that promotes the firm. This individual will have strong organizational abilities and experience managing multiple assignments effectively.
Required Experience
Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant architecture or engineering marketing, business development, and/or communications experience
Prior experience working with the RFP process and proposal development
Academic background or experience with architecture, design, or urban studies strongly preferred
Skills & Competencies
Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with strong attention to detail
Strong time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Skilled at planning, executing, and tracking tasks to meet aggressive deadlines
Capacity to think openly and iteratively in a fast-paced creative environment
Understanding of and interest in architecture and design
Collaborative approach to working with architects, communications professionals, and firm leadership
Technical Proficiency
Experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite required
Experience working with graphic templates
Working knowledge of professional social media and web management best practices
