*This position is based in our Corporate offices in Miami, FL. Mon-Thurs 9am-5pm & remote Friday's from 9am-4pm. Hours may fluctuate according to business needs but onsite is required.
Position Summary:
The Project Architect plays a pivotal role in the architectural design process, overseeing the development and execution of projects from inception to completion. This position involves collaborating with consultants and contractors, and ensuring that architectural designs meet technical, aesthetic, and functional requirements within a given budget.
The candidate should have extensive experience with remote destination projects and is knowledgeable with technical detailing associated with construction within hurricane zones. Assures final documents aligns with design and operational goals of RCG and their key market users. Ensures all consultants comply with local codes and regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead a multidisciplinary consultancy team to perform layout and detailing on architectural projects
Independently oversees the coordination of work of a multidiscipline team through multiple phases of a project
Participate in internal meetings and reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance. May lead development of code analysis and confirms code and zoning requirements for assigned projects.
Conduct work sessions at project site in conjunction with Project Manager and other disciplines
Serves as the main liaison between the consultant and technical teams and the internal design, product and construction teams to provide guidance on project priorities through multiple phases to complete documents on schedule.
Performs product research; assists project leadership team with materials and systems evaluation to report on effectiveness and viability to the organization.
Review architectural documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines and leads the efforts from the ownership side of resolving these issues with the consultants
Leads ownership review and coordinates feedback documents to consultants, including verifying implementation documents conform to QA/QC and Royal Caribbean standards, best practice and quality expectations.
Oversees ensuring appropriate application of products and materials available on the market and best practices
Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, change orders, etc.
Communicates agreed-upon changes to consultants and ensures incorporation into project documents
Lead projects in a dual management role as needed
Answer construction bid period questions and respond to and resolve field issues and questions
Provide construction contract administration as needed
Work independently with supervision by a lead Architect, and able to thrive in a highly-collaborative, multi-disciplinary project team environment
Perform other duties as needed
Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills:
8+ years of professional experience and certification as a licensed professional required.
Bachelor's degree in Architecture; Master's degree in Architecture preferred
Registered Architect
7 years of related design experience hospitality, Retail / Dining / Entertainment (RDE), theme park projects, as well as a minimum of 5 years of project management experience
Experience on campus style developments (multiple buildings)
Proficient in use of AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit and familiarity with related tools and process
Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED desired
Write and edit architectural specifications
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project Schedule)
Excellent written and communication skills
Excellent analytical, problem-solving skills
Demonstrated graphic presentation skills
Must have experience in preparation and layout of architectural contract documents and specifications
Strong knowledge of codes and good planning skills
Ability to travel to sites as needed
