Intermediate level Architect [licensed or unlicensed]

starrdesign, an award-winning design firm based in Charlotte, is looking to hire a full-time design oriented, Intermediate Architect (licensed or unlicensed). 

We are a multi-disciplinary team of architects, interior, graphic, foodservice and branding designers focused primarily on the restaurant industry. Our small firm takes a highly collaborative approach to projects around the country rather than working in silos. What you’ll be doing:

• Work collaboratively with the project team of Architects, Interior Designers, Graphic Designers, and foodservice consultants from initial branding & concept development through construction administration and multi-unit rollout
• Apply basic knowledge of applicable codes, standards and owner criteria to create distinctive design solutions
• Assist with putting together full construction documents including coordinating structural, PM&E, lighting and other engineering consultants

• Perform red-line changes and document revisions
• Conduct site visits and document conditions/progress during the predesign and construction phases of projects
• Interface with code enforcing agencies and construction officials during the permitting and construction phase of the project.
• Process submittals, substitution requests, and RFI’s during construction if necessary.
• Complete projects on time, on budget and with a high-quality standard

What you’ll need:

• Professional or master’s degree in architecture from an accredited institution
• Minimum 3-5 years of previous design experience (max. 10 years – this is a mid-level position)
• Minimum 3 years of Revit experience
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite
• Strong verbal and graphic communication skills
• Excellent time management, prioritization and organizational skills
• Ability to learn quickly and multitask
• Curious, fun, team oriented and interested in the creative process as a whole
