The Facilities Planning & Design department is comprised of design professionals who are responsible for the planning, design and management of all capital improvement projects across the Chapel Hill campus, and master planning and the collection and organization of space data and mapping for the greater University.
This position functions as a Accessibilities Specialist within the Facilities Planning & Design Department, providing accessibility reviews of technical expertise for all University capital improvement projects. The position also functions as an expert consultant to the UNC Office of University Counsel and UNC Equal Opportunity and Compliance Office.
Bachelor’s degree in institutional planning, public administration, engineering, architecture, business administration, economics, industrial technology or a related discipline and two years of facility and space planning experience.
A thorough knowledge of the principals and practices of architecture, engineering, and planning design with particular focus on accessibility and code compliance. Ability to review and critique facility and site designs. Ability to manage capital projects to successful completion by adhering to defined schedule, resources and budget.
