Make a difference. The mission of the Department of health is to protect and improve the health of people in Washington. This Architect 2 supports that mission by providing highly specialized consultation, technical assistance, and plan review to health care facilities and their consultants, specifically related to compliance with state and federal standards and national best practices. This position also coordinates the planning, development, analysis and improvement of the regulatory process within the Community Health Systems Office for the regulation and improvement of health care facilities and services statewide.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Review and evaluate construction documents and functional programs for comprehensive health and residential care facilities to verify compliance with applicable state and federal codes and regulations.
Lead Pre-design, design, and plan review conferences with owners, architectural firms, professional engineers, and staff both on-site and off.
Participate in professional and stakeholder organizations to provide technical assistance and/or education at meetings and technical workshops.
Actively engage with colleagues to balance workload; achieve team review timelines; identify process improvements.
Participate in revising standards, rules, and regulations.
This is a full-time, permanent Architect 2 position within the Office of Community Health Systems, Division of Health Systems Quality Assurance.
The incumbent may be located anywhere within the State of Washington. Telework (mobile work) is currently expected. When approved, the incumbent will work with their supervisor to identify an appropriate work schedule and balance, including telework and reporting to the Tumwater duty station for work activities monthly, if needed. This position requires onsite work in healthcare facilities, conferences, construction sites, etc. within Washington state.

Three (3) years of plan review experience.
Registration as an architect in Washington State or in a state having reciprocity with Washington (Applicants qualifying through the reciprocity option must achieve registration in Washington State prior to appointment).
