Parks and Resilience Planner (Mid to Senior Level)
WRT is growing and looking for a Mid to Senior Level Planner to join our studio in San Francisco.
WRT’s accomplished practice in the planning and design of parks and natural open space systems is tackling some of the most pressing challenges of our time. Our work serves communities across the country facing climate risks, lack of equitable access to parks, diminishing wildlands, and urban growth pressures. We bring positive impact to these challenging issues through community-based planning.
We are looking for a passionate leader and project manager with strong communication and organizational skills to join our team. This is growth opportunity to lead national parks planning practice.
Project types will include park and recreation master plans for municipalities, trail and greenway plans, open space plans for conservation lands, and the planning of large parks. Expanded areas of work may be adaptation plans for coastal areas and resilience planning for wildfire and drought.
Pay Range: $85K - $105K
Required Qualifications and Skills:
Undergraduate and/or advanced degrees in landscape architecture, planning, or related fields.
6-10 years or more of relevant work experience planning parks and recreation for municipalities, trails and greenways, and large parks and park systems.
Strong ability to communicate planning concepts and policy.
Effective and passionate public speaker and have a grasp of community engagement tools, both traditional/analog and virtual/digital.
Ability to lead and manage teams to produce written documents that guide policy and implementation, as well as compelling graphic communication and design thinking.
Advanced in technical and graphic software platforms including Adobe CC, Microsoft Office, and ArcGIS analysis tools as well as familiarity working with public datasets (USGS, USDA, US Census).
General understanding of ecosystem functions and threats, across geographies from coastal and estuarine environments to high country and the wildland/urban interface.
Familiarity with the intersection of urban social issues such as communities-at-risk, public health, access to open space and green infrastructure system thinking.
Desired Qualifications:
Licensure or AICP recognition
Verbal skills in Spanish
Skills with AutoCAD and 3D modeling and visualization software (Sketchup, Rhino, Lumion)
Experience working with regulatory agencies and permitting
Understanding of project funding structures, familiarity with grant programs
