About the PositionThe Capital Program Manager is a hands-on position overseeing SF Parks Alliance's Capital Program as well as directly managing key projects within the program. The Program manager supervises a Project Manager and Project Coordinator and works in close collaboration with staff from SFPA's Stewardship and Activation programs and Blue Greenway initiative. The Capital Program Manager coordinates across departments and with SFPA leadership to review and track opportunities for SFPA to support important public space projects across the city. The Program Manager works closely with the Director to establish goals, priorities, and strategy for the Capital program and to deepen the impact of the public space planning, design, and improvement projects that SFPA contributes to throughout San Francisco.
Oversee all aspects of the Capital program
Supervise Capital program staff (currently 1 project manager and 1 project coordinator)
Serve as Project Manager on multiple key projects within the program
Directly manage and maintain relationships with government organizations and agencies, neighborhood organizations, businesses, and individual community members.
Collaborate with outside partners and manage contractors and vendors
Serve as SFPA's key internal design and planning resource
Track opportunities for SFPA involvement in important public space projects in SF
Coordinate multi-year project development including the evaluation of progress made on designs and work plans that involve multiple city, community and private sector partners.
Qualifications and Skills
4+ years experience working on public space projects in partnership / coordination with local government agencies.
2+ years of supervisory experience is strongly preferred
Experience with direct project management and budget tracking is required.
Experience working in diverse and underserved communities is preferred.
Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong graphic communication skills and proficiency in design software (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, AutoCAD, Rhinoceros, and/or GIS) are highly desired.
Fluent in MS Office, Google Suite. Experience with Salesforce preferred.
Bachelor's Degree required. Masters degree highly desired in Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Planning, Design, Public Policy, Business or related field
Ability to work non-traditional hours (evenings, weekends, and holidays).

You have direct experience in community engagement in the context of parks, public space, and urban planning
Strong understanding of recent innovations and best practices within public space and urban design fields

Position Specifications
Title: Program Manager
Reports to: Director of Parks & Place
Department: Parks & Place, Capital
Location: Duties will be carried out at various citywide sites, at the SFPA Co-Lab space and is authorized for remote work at an appropriate home workspace. Co-Lab is located at 1074 Folsom Ave. SFPA supports remote work by providing employees with a laptop, cloud-based systems, and frequent team connection.
Preferred Start Date: As soon as we find the right candidate
Schedule: Full-time, exempt (ineligible for overtime), typically 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday with occasional evenings and weekends as needed. *This position is eligible to participate in our 4 day work week pilot program (Mon-Thur, 32 hrs./week, 8 hrs./day) end date TBD
