HD Squared Architects is a sustainable, resilient architectural firm located in Annapolis, MD. We are looking for an Architectural Designer who is a listener, visionary, and detail-oriented, to join our growing team. This role reports in the short term to the Principal of HD Squared Architects.

Job Summary:

The Architectural Designer will create detailed drawings and rendering for home and/or commercial spaces. This role is expected to remain adaptable to changing priorities and be proactive in designs.  The right candidate will have both commercial and residential experience focusing on sustainability and resiliency methods of design.  Historical and Religious experience is a plus. Looking for a minimum of 7 years of experience in Architecture and Design. 

Duties/ Responsibilities:

• Use computer-aided drafting software to create full-scale and detailed designs of buildings and interiors.
• Work as a team to evaluate client’s needs, desires, and budgets to produce the best designs while keeping our mission through the drawings
• Measure the existing home, produce as-builts and work through the design process with the Principal.
• Periodical local travel to a job site for a client meetings or
• Analyze building codes, zoning, and regulations to determine how they will affect architectural designs/projects.
• Collaborate with other designers and employees, vendors, and outside professionals (structural, mechanical, electrical, etc)
• Present Architectural designs and renderings to the clients with clear presentation of proposed design solutions meeting their needs and desires
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Strong presentation skills
Proficiency in one or more of the following ArchiCAD, REVIT, SketchUp, and Chief Architect
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent problem-solving skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Associate’s degree in Architecture, a building-related Engineering field, architectural drafting, or a related field required
Alternatively, a demonstrated resume of successful Architectural design experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
A minimum of 5 years of Architectural design experience required
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities, as well as applicable job sites
