The City of Austin is seeking an innovative, strategic, customer-focused leader to fill the Project Management Supervisor in the Parks and Recreation Department. The City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department (PARD) provides, protects, and preserves a park system that promotes quality recreational, cultural, and outdoor experiences for the Austin community.
The desired candidate will have a thorough knowledge of capital improvement project delivery methods; design and project management principles and practices; the ability to oversee a small construction team that handles projects from start to finish; knowledge of City processes and practices; ability to lead a team of 25-30 employees; excellent listening and communication skills; and the ability to engage with the community.
The Project Management Supervisor will be a cohesive leader with the ability to build quality interpersonal relationships throughout the City with diverse communities and populations. The ideal candidate will also be an effective communicator with an equity mindset that has the ability to manage diversity, understand inclusion, and work with diverse communities and populations to build constructive and effective relationships and convey and receive information. The ideal candidate will have the experience and knowledge to effectively lead the division responsible for project management and the delivery of landscape/civil engineering capital improvement projects (CIP), and supervise the Facility Construction group responsible for in-house CIP construction.
