The School of Architecture at the University of Notre Dame is committed to an architectural pedagogy that is based on the classical design traditions of the world. The School of Architecture is seeking applications and nominations for the following faculty position: Tenure-Track Assistant or Associate Professor (without tenure), or Associate Professor or Full Professor (with tenure) in Architectural Design. The position will be available starting July 1, 2021.
The School will consider outstanding candidates at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor to teach upper-level architectural design studio courses. In addition to teaching design studios, candidates may have an opportunity to develop coursework in their secondary fields of expertise, such as environmental systems, building technology, sustainability, resilience, or preservation.
Teach one upper-level undergraduate or graduate studio course each in both the fall and spring semesters
Maintain an active scholarly research, practice, or creative work trajectory
Participation in meetings, committees, reviews, presentations, and other service activities throughout the academic year, both within the School of Architecture and the University.
Qualifications: Required: Applicants must have a terminal degree (Master’s or PhD) by the time of appointment, a record of excellence in research or practice/creative work, as appropriate for the candidate’s rank and a commitment to teaching excellence. Tenured appointments require documented excellence in research and teaching and an emerging national reputation.
Preferred: Faculty with tenure and demonstrated administrative capability, especially with academic affairs or service to institutions like the ACSA, NAAB or AIA are encouraged to apply.
Faculty without tenure who demonstrate a promising research trajectory or portfolio of built work will also be considered and are welcome to apply.
