Besides offering outstanding work-life balance, working here means being a part of a community that values service, innovation, and wellness. $95,000-$117,000 annual salary *Relocation Assistance available *Sign-On Bonus available *Temp Housing Assistance available Job Summary: The Health Facilities Architect is responsible for providing management oversight for the design and construction of capital projects for St. John’s Health, including construction of new facilities as well as remodels and upgrades. The Architect will work closely with the CFO/COO, CEO, and Director of Facilities as a member of the leadership team overseeing multiple construction projects. This position will support the team by evaluating stakeholder requirements and project feasibility, creating project requirements to enable conceptual estimating, obtaining end user approval, developing schedule and key milestones, and preparing design drawings. Will hand off documents as appropriate to third party specialty Architects and Engineers and ensure accountability for all deliverables. Essential Functions: 1. Project Management Responsible for reviewing, investigating, planning, designing, and managing construction projects. Collaborate closely with multiple project groups to ensure alignment on scope, action plans, resource allocation, and timelines. Ensure all projects are completed within budget, on time, and to scope. Report performance compared to expectations to stakeholders. 2. Design Coordinate facility site selection and planning processes. Develops preliminary project code evaluations and preliminary schematic designs to allow for validation of design and to facilitate creation of professional service RFPs. Conducts periodic reviews of as-built drawings, quality inspections, life safety inspections, and infection control inspections. Manage design activities (renovations, inspections, meetings, permitting, project close out, commissioning, and any other related work). Identify requirements for medical equipment and furnishings. Conduct facility assessment studies to improve functional use of existing space. 3. Vendor Management Consult with outsourced design services, engineers and construction companies, monitoring quality and scope of services, and overseeing change management on multiple simultaneous projects while managing stakeholders and participants needs and expectations. 4. Additional Responsibilities Provide consultant services for code interpretation and compliance. Provide training and mentoring for project team members and in-house construction crew. Other duties as assigned Job Requirements: Minimum Education: Required- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or related field required. Preferred- Masters Degree in Architecture. Minimum Work Experience: Required- 5-7 Years of experience in a healthcare environment, including understanding of Infection Prevention, Life Safety Measures, and Regulatory Agencies. Understands what it takes to complete a healthcare project to code. Proven familiarity with design, construction, and energy efficiency concepts, practices, and procedures. Preferred- Knowledge and experience in using AutoCAD, ArchiCAD, Autodesk REVIT, E-Builder, Microsoft Project, or other project and financial management software is highly desirable. Required Licenses: Registered Architect or AIA required. Functional Demands: Working Conditions: Hospital clinical and office setting. Indoor and outdoor work. Potential hazards such as high voltage, machinery, bio-hazardous wastes, elevated work areas, occasional temperature extremes, exposure to chemicals. Must be on-site at the SJH campus or other facilities to fulfill the responsibilities of this role. Physical Requirements: Intermittent sitting, standing and walking.
