Wally Cooper founded CRSA in 1975. In 1983, Allen Roberts joined Wally as a principal and the firm was renamed to Cooper Roberts Architects. For the first 20 years, the firm specialized in Historic Preservation Architecture and as a result, CRSA has a large portfolio of historical projects of every size, and most building types.
In the 1990’s, CRSA started using this deep experience in existing buildings as a launching pad to provide other services and new construction. About the same time, Wally and Allen began nurturing a new generation of leaders. First, CRSA grew a Planning Studio. Then, two new satellite offices in Idaho Falls (2001) and St. George (2006) were formed to reach geographical regions to the north and south of the headquarters in Salt Lake City.
By 2012, CRSA emerged in its current structure. Operating as one firm in three offices, CRSA is led by seven Senior Principals and a 13-member Board of Directors. We have studios specializing in higher education, religion, housing, and government buildi
