Babcock Design is seeking a design professional to work with members of the design studio, developing concepts from initial ideas into schematic designs. This position requires skill in communication, both graphic and verbal. Design assistant will interact directly with clients creating and participating in presentations of the teams design ideas.
As a design assistant, this individual will support the design studio in developing the design concepts for a variety of project types. This full-time position requires an individual to utilize necessary digital tools to create initial design concepts, support team members to ensure accuracy of early design concepts, research and implement design elements and revisit design ideas and implement changes. A strong eye for graphics and aesthetics is required.
This position is geared for growth towards a role in design leadership. Our goal is to build the skills of a talented individual by working alongside other talented designers, learning the design process and developing tools to further the individual’s career. Successful candidates will be energetic, possess a strong work ethic, and feel comfortable taking initiative. Strong verbal and writing skills will be important, as well as visualization and design talent. A design portfolio will be required for review at the interview.
· 1-5 years’ experience working in an architectural firm
· Professional architectural degree, pursuing licensure
· Experience using SketchUp in a professional office.
· Experience using Revit in a professional office.
· Excellent interpersonal skills – you will work as a team member supporting a studio.
· Knowledge of the design process and utilizing tool necessary to create graphic documentation.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Competency in BlueBeam, hand sketching, AutoCAD
· Competency with Adobe Creative Suite products, specifically Photoshop and InDesign
· Knowledge of site planning and building massing.
