We’re looking for amazing people! Come join VHDA as a Design and Construction Officer. This important role will ensure that low-rise and mid-rise multi-family projects financed or allocated tax credits by VHDA are designed and built to meet stringent quality assurance measures through the review of borrower submitted documents. The successful candidate will consider initial and long-term costs, aesthetics, function, needs of tenants, market trends, maintenance/replacement costs, accessibility, and will rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Responsibilities will include:
Coordination with Borrower’s Design and Construction Team
Construction Monitoring and Site Visit Reporting
Funding Document Review
Qualified candidates must possess a minimum 7 years’ experience in the field of architecture, construction or code review, and a minimum 3 years’ experience in a project management type position. Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or equivalent professional/technical certification. Must have experience with construction schedules. Must possess and maintain a current driver’s license and have the ability to drive long distances with the possibility of overnight stays.
Professional Certification: N.C.A.R.B. registration and license to practice architecture from the Commonwealth of Virginia. Computer knowledge: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Project and Power Point), Site Visit Report Applications, Construction Draw Applications and AutoCAD.
Preferred experience includes multi-family design and construction experience, specifically as a team member on projects receiving VHDA financing. Experience and knowledge of the VHDA MDCR, LIHTC Amenities, and Universal Design guidelines.
This position will be located at VHDA's Glen Allen, VA office.
