Pillar & Peacock is seeking a Project Architect (PA) to manage a wide range of architectural projects at the firm and collaborate with interior design staff to achieve comprehensive design for our clients. The PA is responsible for producing high quality project design deliverables in renderings, architectural drawings, construction documents and providing excellence in client service. The PA may work on any/all phases of development of a project including design studies, schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration. The PA may also act as a Project Manager (PM) and is responsible for maintaining cohesiveness, consistency, and efficiency in a project.
Responsibilities and Duties:
New client onboarding, discovery and inspiration
Surveying existing building, site, etc. for a project to collect data in the form existing field measurement & photos
Leading client meetings, charrettes and most direct client communication for architectural projects
Making project timelines, budgets and deliverable schedules
Sketching preliminary design drawings
3D modeling/massing studies
Drawing construction details, wall sections, existing conditions, floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, interior elevations, framing plans, sections, architectural details, etc.
Developing overall vision in conjunction with the interiors team
Coordinating all trades and agencies related to building design, permitting, zoning, etc.
Overseeing junior staff assigned to projects on which the PA is lead
Acting as a resource for the Design Team
Maintaining current knowledge of code requirements, structural complexities, cost/general design knowledge for each project
Responsible for management of all project efforts, administrative and technical, to assure most efficient and cost-effective execution of assigned projects
Serves as primary liaison with clients to bring projects to completion on schedule, within budget, and with maximum client satisfaction
Actively manages client budgets, schedules, and programs; project communications, and documentation; and project team assignments
Estimates fees; determines scope of work; and reviews proposals and contracts
Provides oversight and monitoring of work of less experienced team members
Qualifications and Skills
Licensed architect in the state of Virginia
At least 8 years of experience at an architecture firm
Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, Sketch-Up, InDesign, Photoshop
Deep knowledge of industry practices, codes, rules and regulations
Helpful to have working knowledge of Dropbox, Slack, Google Suite and Zoom
Full Time position (40 hours) per week
Located in Richmond, VA
Must feel comfortable working interactively with teammates and industry partners of our three offices located in Virginia and Alabama
Some travel required
