S+B James Construction Management is a Design-Build and Construction Management company seeking a Senior Architect with solid leadership experience to serve as Design Director for our in-house design department. This position requires someone with strong design and management skills who enjoys a collaborative work environment and who is well-versed in all phases of project design and construction.
Our project design and construction teams work closely together throughout the design and construction process. We focus on providing high quality design and construction services to our clients with attention to their functional, design, budget, sustainability and schedule goals.
We are headquartered in the Rogue Valley in Southern Oregon. Our design-build projects are located throughout southern and central Oregon, with others also in Washington State, Montana and California. They include healthcare, commercial office, retail, religious, educational, essential service facility, winery and industrial project types.
Southern Oregon is a mecca for year-round outdoor sports and recreational activities, as well as the home to The Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Ashland Film Festival, the BRITT Music Festival and great restaurants, breweries and award-winning wineries.
Local schools provide updated facilities and a wide-range of academic, arts and athletic programs with high-quality public and private school options available. Rogue Community College and Southern Oregon University also offer diverse academic and vocational training programs.
A minimum of 20 years of professional experience with 10 years in a progressively more responsible leadership role.
Demonstrated Experience and Skills:
Leadership in Design from concept through project completion
Strong technical problem-solving skills, including working with architectural, structural, and M/E/P disciplines and issues
In-depth understanding of building codes
Design team management
Design fee development and budget management
Design and design consultant contract review
Strong communication skills: graphic, presentations and written
Proficiency using AutoCAD Architecture 2018 or later
Proficiency using MS Office Suite
Registration/Licensing; Accreditation and Certification:
Current Oregon Architectural License
LEED Accreditation (required within one-year of start of employment)
