Design Collective, an 85-person, award-winning and multi-disciplinary design firm, is looking to fill a design director/ senior designer position wherein the successful applicant’s experience can continue to build on our firm's award-winning portfolio, studio culture, and client relationships.  The right candidate should possess the following skills and characteristics:

• 10-15+ years’ experience in Multi-family/Mixed-Use and/or Student Housing sectors
• 10-15+ years’ experience in residential design with concentrations in Mixed-Use and Student/Residential Life is a plus  
• Able to balance demands of multiple concurrent projects
• Able to lead our design team from RFP/feasibility/concept through construction
• Strong, creative, award-winning designer with built portfolio demonstrating expertise
• Able to balance idealized concept/narrative with schedule/budget
• Strong, persuasive and personable verbal presentation skills
• Strong graphic skills, in both hand-sketching and 3d modeling (Sketchup or other)
• Comfortable in position of client maintenance to cultivate existing relationships and grow new
• Comfortable and active participant in Business Development efforts - Meet & Greets, conferences and interviews
• Highly collaborative with multi-disciplinary studio colleagues, pin-ups, practicing the concept that ‘the best idea wins regardless of who it comes from’
• Committed to empowering colleagues’ growth within the firm by cultivating ‘joint ownership’ of the design
• Understands Code implications in the building types and construction types being proposed
• Understands the business of architecture – can balance great design and profitability
• Passionate and energizing personality is a plus
• Experience in Higher Education, K-12 and Workplace is a plus
• Experience as a Studio Team Leader and mentor is a plus
