The Chief Operating Officer (COO) oversees the organization’s ongoing operations and procedures. As a key member of the senior management team, the COO reports directly to the Owner.The main measurement of success for the COO will be their ability to, building from an established process, develop and maintain an iterative process that works for the firm now and as it grows.
The main need is for the COO to be an integrator.Following the lead of the owner, who is working in the Visionary role, this position will work to establishes policies that promote company culture and vision through its operations. The COO is responsible for the efficiency of the business, which includes maintaining control of diverse business operations and establishing and following a set of policies and processes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide day-to-day leadership and management through creating consistency in the overall work process
Responsible for operational development and excellence, including elevation of business vision and strategy
Excellent interpersonal, presentation and public speaking skills, both practiced and impromptu
Ownership of recruiting, retaining, leading, and managing a strong and stable workforce
Ability to comfortably and energetically present the company and its products publicly, be it with builders, key consultants, public relationships or others as needed
Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities
World class customer service is a hallmark of this firm and will need to be the same for the COO candidate
An understanding of the details, and their importance, but able to see above the details when needed
Aptitude in sound decision-making and problem-solving
Must understand excellent design.This role does not need to bring a strong design skills but does need to have a very strong design eye, taste level, and understanding of design concepts
Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and business development
Must be rooted in systems and process and needs to understand the data and analysis, performance, and operation metrics such systems produce
The right candidate will bring high energy to the role combined with a humble, low-ego approach
Very customer focused with an understanding how to meet the client’s needs but still surprise and delight with each solution and in every interaction
