National Construction Consulting firm seeks Contractors/Architects based out of San Diego, Phoenix, or Sacramento to perform site inspections, investigation, analysis, reports and technical support. Firm provides QA/QC service to building owners for new construction and retrofitting existing structures, Forensic analysis and evaluation of existing structures to the insurance and legal community. Firm consists of Architects, Contractors, Engineers and Cost Estimators.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Conduct field investigations and analyze failures involving all types of structures and construction problems including residential, commercial and industrial properties
Determine the cause, origin, and extent of structural failures, water intrusions (building envelope), construction defects and building system failures including envelope, roof, wall and glazing
Assignments may include foundation settlement investigations, structural assessments, site evaluations, sub-surface investigations, general construction defects, vibration analysis, construction site accidents and building egress accident evaluations, construction failures, delays and other issues in construction project schedules, construction project management and design specifications
Analyze construction defect issues in buildings and other infrastructure systems and analyze failures in buildings and other infrastructure systems by conducting site visits and applying engineering principles and practices in accordance with codes and industry standards
Conduct unbiased investigations for various types of clients
Responsible for retention and development of client relations
Prepare oral and written reports in layman’s terms that document causes of failure, extent of loss, and recommended remediation.
Ability to support conclusions by appropriate expert testimony in legal proceedings.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Degreed in Architecture or construction management.
Licensure/registration is highly desirable.
In-depth knowledge of building safety and construction technology
Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a comprehensive team
Excellent technical, analytical, writing, and communication skills
Must possess strong writing skills/report and technical writing.
Public speaking experience a plus
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Ability to climb ladders and inspect roofs
Ability to maneuver in and around buildings and in confined spaces
Ability to drive to site locations across regions dependent upon office location.
