This position assists with the implementation of a variety of capital and operational projects related to village facilities; utilizes computer systems, including AutoCAD, ArcMap and, Microsoft Office programs, for various applications; prepares and updates architectural drawings and various exhibits; maintains project record information and other department file management records. Responsible to manage special projects consisting of small capital projects and may serve as site contact and village representative throughout all the phases for design and construction projects.
Assists with the coordination of facilities projects, both renovation and new construction from the initiation stage through planning, design, and construction.
Performs project tracking and reporting, supports project progress, resolves issues as they arise and ensure the final product meets the requirements of the contract documents and the Village.
Conduct site visits and reviews with engineers, consultants, and contractors as necessary.
Manages special projects as directed by their supervisor consisting of small capital projects to procurement of equipment and services, project management and coordination among employees and other customers both within and outside of the department.
Prepares computer generated plans, exhibits, and details utilizing MicroStation, AutoCAD, or ArcGIS. Support Facility Division Manager to compile plans and specifications for competitive bidding.
Coordinates with the Facilities Division Manager to assist with the development, implementation, evaluation and interpretation of facilities policies and procedures within the department.
Designs processes and procedures within the position’s discretion and expertise to increase effectiveness, efficiency and economy of work process, specifically as related to asset management and data collection. Works with departmental staff to utilize GIS for maintenance, asset management and long term planning needs.
Develops, coordinates and/or administers initiatives with little or no supervision. In the performance of these duties, the position is expected to make recommendations on the best course of action.
Coordinates file management for the division including digital and paper documentation.
Performs other duties and assists on special projects as assigned.
Performs field surveys and assists with compiling and documenting components of existing facilities for planning purposes through field sketches, photographs, taking measurements, conversations with building users and other means. Completes miscellaneous general office duties.

Associate’s Degree with major coursework in Civil Engineering Technology, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field, or equivalent vocational certification with major coursework in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Architecture or Construction Management.
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or closely related field preferred.
A minimum of one year of responsible experience or training in CADD, construction, drafting and/or surveying work.
Possession of a valid driver’s license.
Proficiency with current computer software systems, including email, calendar programs, job specific software, and customer service systems preferred or within the first six months of employment.
Working knowledge of MicroStation or AutoCAD. Working knowledge of municipal civil engineering related services and terminology. Working knowledge of construction methods and materials. Skilled in reading and interpreting plans and specifications and comparing them with construction in progress. Ability to establish and maintain good work relationships with co-workers, residents, property owners, contractors and general public in a professional manner. Knowledge of field data collection devices. Capable of making sound decisions through analytical abilities to resolve complaints, conduct inspections, and to make professional judgments when enforcing departmental policies, procedures and operations.
