The College of Architecture and Design at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) invites applications for two full-time tenure-track appointments at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor: One in in the field of Digital Fabrication and one in Building Performance. Both appointments are within the School of Architecture at the College, with anticipated cross-disciplinary engagement with students in the School of Art + Design as well.
Successful candidates applying for the position in Digital Fabrication will have an established research agenda grounded in digital fabrication, with a focus on robotic fabrication and CNC milling as well as experience with design/build and rapid prototyping applications. She or he will have a proven record in funded research together with demonstrated teaching and leadership abilities. The successful candidate will be capable of teaching courses in digital fabrication, hands-on workshops, and design and research studios. Minimum qualification is a terminal degree in architecture, material sciences, engineering, or a related field, with a PhD preferred.
Successful candidates applying for the position in Building Performance will have an established record of research, practice and/or teaching grounded in environmental performance of buildings with an emphasis on integrated building performance, energy simulation and/or daylighting and other sustainable design strategies. She or he will have demonstrated experience in funded research, together with strong teaching and leadership abilities. The successful candidate will be capable of teaching courses in building systems and construction with expertise in the use of energy modeling to enrich the students' toolset. Experience with online course delivery and design studio teaching a plus. Minimum qualification is a terminal degree in architecture, building sciences, engineering, or related fields, with a PhD and/or professional licensure preferred.
