The main purpose of this position is to function as a Team Leader and a Licensed Professional Engineer responsible for a senior level of design engineering and management – managing consultants, oversight of licensed and non-licensed engineers, project teams, and office teams for the design, project management, and construction support for multiple major complex transportation projects simultaneously. This position will also have management responsibilities related to SHA's Alternative Project Delivery Program, including Design-Build and Construction Management at Risk projects. Specific duties include, but are not limited to the coordination of engineering activities associated with the planning, development and coordination of transportation projects (including, but not limited to cost estimates, design schedules, geometric design, maintenance of traffic, utility impact resolution, phasing), coordinating with Federal, State and local agencies, administrative duties, representing SHA at meetings with Federal, State and local elected officials, community groups and the general public and interpreting and administering the Administration's policies and procedures to develop contract documents.
Possession of a Maryland Professional Engineer license, in the appropriate option, is required. Evidence of license must be presented at the time of appointment.
EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of experience managing engineering projects as a licensed, professional engineer.
SELECTIVE QUALIFICATION: Two (2) years of experience in project management as it relates to the design and/or construction of highway or other transportation infrastructure projects such as transit, rail, or airport projects.
