Reporting to the Principal in Charge, the Urban Design Project Leader will be responsible for individual project. He/she will participate in projects ranging in all sizes and levels of complexity. The Urban Design Project Leader will provide design support to Design Principals. The Urban Design Project Leader will be involved in projects encompassing urban redevelopment, strategic planning, downtown revitalization, large scale mixed-use and design of public realm and coastal resiliency. The Urban Design Project Leader will support the principal-in-charge, handle day to day responsibilities for managing and coordinating project teams.
Assist in design approach to Master Planning, Site Planning and Placemaking exercises using diagramming, GIS based analytical analysis, 3D modeling and digital presentation packaging.
Prepare presentations for and participate in public, private and/or institutional client committees as well as stakeholder and public meetings.
Prepare project reports
Coordinate project consultants
Responsible for conceptual, schematic design and design development work
Responsible for managing project budgets and invoicing
Assist in client interface
Responsible for writing proposals for public RFPs
Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Architecture required. Degree in Urban Design and/or Urban Planning a plus.
Professional architectural license preferred.
Minimum of 5 to 7 years’ experience in Urban Design or Planning projects in the U.S.
Experience with large scale and mixed use projects.
Experience in site planning and zoning analysis.
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong graphic/diagraming, verbal and written communications.
Proficient with computer-assisted design software such as AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite such as (Photoshop, Illustrator, In-design); 3D software such as Sketchup. Revit, Rhino or Grasshopper a plus.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office - PowerPoint and other presentation software required.
Proficiency with data management and communications software such as Word and Excel.
