The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) is recruiting for a Project Architect/Manager in support of its mission to provide global leadership for a research, training, and education program to promote the prevention and treatment of heart, lung, and blood diseases and enhance the health of all individuals so that they can live longer and more fulfilling lives.
The Project Architect/Manager is a member of the NHLBI Space & Facilities Management Branch, which has three primary responsibilities - maintain a comprehensive database of all NHLBI space, coordinate day to day facility needs through minor alterations, and act as an owner’s representative for all major renovation projects. Projects will include 100,000 sqft commercial office fit-out; 25,000 sqft commercial office renovation; 1,500 sqft bio-medical laboratory design and renovation.
- Leads a major change effort of the NHLBI workplace, affecting over 800 employees
- Acts as Project Architect/Manager to collect data, program, plan, engage end users, develop design, and review A/E construction document submissions
- Develops scopes of work for furniture procurement, occupant equipment, and move management contracts
- Establishes budgets and tracks expenses for all project related costs in conjunction with Space & Facilities Management Section Chief
- Provides regular updates on project status to all affected parties within the organization
- Conducts independent research to gather industry best practices for corporate interior architecture
- Researches and proposes strategies to create healthy, energy efficient, ecologically aware office environments
- Maintains accurate project records based on current record management system
- Initiates, coordinates, and implements special Division programs and projects
- Coordinates and tracks day-to-day minor alteration requests generated by end-users
