Job Description
The Environmental Management Participation Program for the U.S. Army Environmental Command (USAEC) provides opportunities to participate in USAEC on-going applied research and development projects, and environmental technology demonstration projects at Army installations worldwide. Project areas include Environmental Compliance and Planning, Cultural Resources, Natural Resources, Range Management, and Geographical Information Systems.

PROJECT DETAILS

An appointment is available at West Point, New York in the Master Planning Division. The participant will assist with various Cultural Resource and Engineering projects.

This appointment includes, but is not limited to, the following:

- Utilitze AutoCAD, PhotoShop, and PowerPoint skills for various projects. - Assist Master Planner and Cultural Resources Manager in presenting materials to senior staff. - Assist with space utilization and floor plans, drafting policy papers, consultations with architectural/engineering firms, and charrette coordination.


Requirements
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants should have received a Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related discipline WITHIN THE LAST FIVE YEARS. Current students should plan to complete of all requirements for the degree on or about the starting date. Other applicants will be considered on a case-by-case basis. The program is open to all qualified U.S. CITIZENS ONLY without regard to race, sex, religion, color, age, physical or mental disability, national origin, or status as a Vietnam era or disabled veteran.

The initial appointment is for one year and may be renewed for up to three additional years based upon recommendation of USAEC and subject to availability of funds. The appointment is full time at West Point.

The participant will receive a monthly stipend. The stipend rate is determined based upon level of education, training, and experience. Inbound travel and moving expenses are reimbursed according to established policies. Travel and other costs will also be reimbursed for training related to the project and approved by ORISE and the host installation.

The participant must show proof of health and medical insurance. Health plans are available through the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education for Postgraduate Internship participants.
